Obituary for Leo Egbert

Leo Egbert
Leo Egbert, age 59, passed away on September 19th, 2017. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for 24 years and was formerly a resident of Cato, Wisconsin. He was a retired Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army and served honorably for more than 20 years.

Leo was born on January 24th, 1958 to Jerome Egbert and Mary (Hayden) Egbert in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. On October 9th, 1982 he married Nancy Lorfeld in Sheboygan, Wisconsin officially making her an Egbert too.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy and their children: Desirée (Derrick) Terrell, Joshua (Karmen) Egbert and Jacob (Kimiko) Egbert; his 6 beautiful grandchildren: Kayla, Zachary, Kaidyn, Keegan, Jaxson and Kennedy; his siblings: Peggy Chari, Bob Egbert, Greg (Barb) Egbert, Sandy Egbert, Veronica (Jim) Reinboldt and Marty (Julie) Egbert; multiple nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; cousins; and other extended family and friends. And his grand-dogs: Bear and Panda, Bailey, Shelby and Pawra Pig.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Serenivas Chari.

He attended Valders High School in Valders, Wisconsin and graduated in 1976. He also attended Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, Wisconsin and Phoenix University in Colorado Springs. Leo was lovingly known by his wife as “Bert” and by his adoring grandkids as “Poppi”. He was an avid Packers fan/owner who never missed a game. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. Other hobbies included crossword puzzles with an extensive knowledge of trivia, model building, jigsaw puzzles, reading, pronouncing words wrong and brewery hopping.

He was a lover of life and people, who never missed an opportunity to tell a good story (whether true or embellished), hear people laugh or make new memories for more stories later.

His military honors will be held on October 21st at 2:00pm at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. With reception to follow at 3:30pm at Rocky Mountain Brewery, 625 Paonia Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80915.
