Obituary for Clayton Bradley Jones

Clayton Bradley Jones
Clayton Bradley Jones was born April 6, 1976 in Houston, Texas and died March 1, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma as an infant, Clayton and his family returned to Houston his freshman year in high school.

He was an accomplished soccer player and a very good tennis player. His high school tennis team won the state championship his sophomore year. He transferred to a private school and graduated from West Houston Christian Academy in 1994.

Clayton attended Sam Houston State University and studied horticulture and business. He worked many years in the landscaping business and was involved in all aspects from design and installation to irrigation, lighting, patio stonework, and ponds, never leaving a job site until it was perfect.

Drawn by the beauty and climate of Colorado, Clayton moved to Colorado Springs at the suggestion of his good friend, Chad Smith. His good fortune was to meet Jennifer Minafo, who became his fiancée. He was an avid outdoors-man and she too enjoyed their long drives in the mountains. They were active members of the Bailey Sasquatch Outpost.

At the time of his death he was working for Seedmasters on all kinds of projects such as erosion control, land clearing, and tree removal. He really enjoyed working outside and learning to operate some of the large equipment.

He leaves behind Jennifer, and is lovingly remembered by her children, Matthew and Gianna, granddaughter Sophia, and her mother Jeanne Sanchez. Also his own parents, Cecil and Shelia Jones of Houston, sister and brother-in-law, Kristin and Mike McCullough of Salinas, California, his nephews, Reed and Mason McCullough, and his children, Chandler and Hayden, of Calgary, Canada. He loved his children dearly and coached every sport Chandler played while Hayden cheered.

Clayton’s friends knew he never wavered in his support of the Dallas Cowboys football team.

He was a kind and compassionate person who loved his friends, family, and his beloved dogs Bailey and Titan.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910.
