The Shrine of Remembrance was established in 1977. For over 50 years we have been the premier funeral home in Colorado Springs and a faithful provider of the best value services to our community. We offer both full-service funerals as well as cremation services. Our facilities are widely considered to be the best of any funeral home in Colorado Springs.

Our goal is to provide you and your family with the highest level of professionalism, service, and care for your loved one during your time of need. We are committed to providing meaningful up-front and factual information to help you make the best decision for your family. We believe there is great value in working with a locally owned funeral home rather than a large out-of-state chain and we seek to honor the legacy of your family.

The spacious design of the “America the Beautiful” Chapel—which provides military honors like no other and is available to all faiths—and our 19 interior mausoleum alcoves are naturally lit with inspirational, radiant sunlight emanating peace and hope. The alcoves are faced with the finest book-matched marble from around the world. A second, spacious, chapel is also available for more intimate services in our adjacent Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. Your legacy at its finest!

Our Veterans Honor Court was designated in 1995 by then Secretary of Defense, William J. Perry, as an Official Commemoration Facility in honor of our 50th Anniversary of World War II memorial. The Veterans Honor Court, with its war and peace theatre memorials and 40 honorary trustee plaques, has been recognized by two U.S. Presidents.

At the General William Jackson Palmer Burial Estate, our staff place wreaths in observance of Christmas, Memorial Day, and Easter. We continue to provide perpetual care, including the planting of seasonal flowers at no cost to taxpayers or the family, as appointed by the heirs of the General  since the restoration and unveiling of his Medal of Honor Plaque by our CEO, Costas Rombocos, pictured above, center. The plaque was dedicated by Major General Neil Jaco, U.S.A., Commanding General 4th Infantry Division and Ford Carson, on May 27, 1991. The plaque is located in the Evergreen City Cemetery, Colorado Springs, “The America the Beautiful” city.

Multigenerational Legacy

The idea was sparked in 1965 by Costas Rombocos, a courageous immigrant from Athens, Greece, who aspired to pursue excellence and innovation in the deathcare industry. Costas sought innovation without sacrificing his reverence for heritage, legacy, and tradition. His motivation and values led to the founding of the finest funeral home in Colorado Springs.

Costas’s oldest son, Demetri Rombocos, joined the Shrine of Remembrance in November of 1993 following his graduation from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. He currently serves as the President, a position he has held for many years. Costas’s younger son, Dino Rombocos, joined the Shrine following his graduation from Cheyenne Mountain High School in 1992.

Together, both Demetri and Dino have demonstrated their commitment and love for the industry for over 25 years. They follow in their father’s footsteps and continue the Shrine of Remembrance’s mission and excellence well into the 21st century. The Shrine of Remembrance looks forward to continuing to being the best value funeral home in Colorado Springs for many years to come.
