Zita Marie Miller, age 81, a resident of both Colorado Springs and Park County areas since 1966 formerly of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Brookdale Place in Colorado Springs after a long illness. She was an Army wife, devoted mother and skilled artisan.
Zita Marie Rollman was born on September 30, 1930 in Baltimore to Robert William and Anna Louise (Kuhn) Rollman. She was a 1948 graduate of Seton High School and married LTC Bernard C. “Bernie” Miller, USA (Ret.) on February 14, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland. The Millers were stationed in Germany (twice), Michigan, Oklahoma and Colorado Springs where Bernie retired. In 1983 Bernie and Zita moved to the Southern part of Park County, Colorado. Zita enjoyed crafting, weaving, helping neighbors, and caring for animals. Her artistic skills, sense of humor and wit will be long remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons: Robert S. Miller and Matthew R. Miller of Colorado Springs; two grandchildren: Shawn (and Codi) McCaw of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Shirlee (and Jimmy) Sturm of Leesville, Louisiana; three great grandchildren; her brother, Leo (and Carol) Rollman of Orlando, Florida; nieces Gail Kirchgessner Ontario, New York, Patricia Wismer Orlando, Florida; nephews Paul Kirchgessner Rochester, New York, Michael Rollman Valrico, Florida, Jeffrey Rollman Satellite Beach, Florida, Mark Rollman Orlando, Florida and Thomas Rollman Huntington Beach, New York.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bernie in 1993; two sisters, Emma Rollman and Mary Louise (Rollman) Kirchgessner.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Cremation is planned. Memorials in her name may be made to the Teller County Regional Animal Shelter, 308 Weaverville Road, Divide, Colorado 80814.
