Robert D. Andersen, 79, died May 25, 2012 of natural causes in his home in Colorado Springs. Robert was born in Bakersfield, California, in 1933. Robert joined the Air Force at a very young age and had a career that spanned 28 years. His career as a flight steward took him all over the world including Europe, Asia, Russia, Japan, Australia, South America and the United States.
Robert and his first wife, Aclidia, settled in Colorado Springs with their three daughters after his retirement in 1977. He lost his wife, Aclidia, to cancer in 1993. Since that time he met and married his current wife, Donna Andersen, who he lived with in her home until his death.
Robert is survived by his wife, Donna; his son, Tony Andersen; his three daughters: Susan Carter, Barbara Andersen, and Sandra Wood; grandchildren: John Duhon, Brandi Dill, Brian Wood, Danielle Wood, and Matthew Wood; and great-grandchildren: Alexia Duhon, Robert Duhon, Reese Dill, and Caleb Wood.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A second visitation will be from 9:15 – 10:00 a.m. and Robert’s funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. The funeral will be followed by a reception at the Retired Enlisted Association, 834 Emory Circle, Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers, a donation account has been established in Robert’s name with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 720 South Colorado Boulevard, Suite 500-S, Denver, Colorado 80246.
