Dorothy “Dot” M. McAuliffe, a resident of Colorado Springs for 47 years, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015.
Dot was born on December 2, 1926 in Washington D.C. to Arthur Emil Fleig and Dorothea Pauline (Taylor) Fleig.
Dot was a very generous, loving, and gentle person who loved her family. She delighted in refurbishing old dolls and blankets and donating them to Peterson Air Force families at Christmas time. She also enjoyed making turbans for cancer patients. She loved bowling and line dancing and was a member of The Retired Enlisted Association (T.R.E.A.).
She is survived by her children: Jocile McAuliffe, Garry M. McAuliffe, Jr., Marie C. Lamberson (Greg), and Patricia Ann McAuliffe (Traci Mather); her siblings: Anna, Jeanette, Mary, Pauline, and twins Jack and Artie; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garry M. McAuliffe, Sr.; her sister, Betsy; and daughter-in-law, Linda McAuliffe.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 North Carefree Circle. A reception will follow at T.R.E.A., 834 Emory Circle. Interment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015.
