A. Katherine “Kitty” Peat passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, November 21, 2017.
She was born in Radford, Virginia, to Joseph and Evelena Wysong Salley, August 20, 1920. She married George A. Peat on October 25, 1952, and traveled the world with him throughout his Army career, along with their three sons. She had lived in Virginia, Germany, Missouri, California, and was a resident of Colorado Springs since 1968.
She worked for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia for 23 years. She later returned to college and earned her BA in Business Administration from Pikes Peak Community College.
Mrs. Peat was a long-time member of the Society of Military Widows, serving the local chapter in many capacities, including President, Vice President, and Membership Chairperson. She enjoyed going to the gym, and was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband 1st Sgt. Army (Ret) George A. Peat; her son, James; two brothers; two sisters; her granddaughter, Holly Peat; and grandson, Jarrod Peat. She is survived by her sons, John (Karol) Peat and Jerry (Cecilia) Peat, and daughters-in-law, Susie Peat and Diane Peat. Also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel.
