Adolph Wolff
October 12, 1914 – October 5, 2015

Adolph Wolff, a longtime Colorado Springs resident, passed away on October 5, 2015. He was 100 years old, born in Germany to the late Herman and Johanna Wolff. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gerda, and son, Frederic.

Adolph graduated from Erasmus High School in Brooklyn, New York and from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He retired in 1978 with 36 years of Military and Federal Civil Service. Adolph served as a Staff Supply Officer with the U.S. Air Force.

One of our heroes and mentors has left us. He was the embodiment of “The Greatest Generation.” This soft, gentle, yet immensely strong man who always stood in the background and never wanted any limelight for himself touched more people than a thousand loud or overbearing people ever could. He was a man of loyalty and honor and a great husband, father, friend and gentleman to all who knew him. His youth lasted a lifetime.

Adolph was a proud veteran of World War II and a member of the U.S. Army’s 100th Infantry Division, AKA “Sons of Bitche Division,” and received the coveted Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star, the Air Force Meritorious Civilian Service Award and numerous other medals and citations for his service.

He was a member of the Oregon Masonic Military Lodge, a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, an Al Kaly Shriner, lifetime member of the VFW Post 4051, a member of the Enzian Club and Honor Flight of Southern Colorado. Adolph was a frequent guest lecturer for cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy and an honorary member of the faculty.
