
Agnes M. Spokas Fatora, age 100, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1992 passed away on January 27, 2025. She was a retired medical technologist, homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Agnes was born on June 22, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Mary Spokas. She was a 1942 graduate of Holy Ghost Academy in Techny, Illinois. She received a PhB from DePaul University in Chicago. She trained and worked at St Theresa Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois, St. Anthony’s Hospital in Chicago, Little Company of Mary Hospital in Chicago and Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, Ohio.
Agnes was married to Frank C. Fatora, Jr. on September 27, 1952 in Lisle, Illinois. Together they raised a wonderful family and were devoted to the church. Frank passed away on March 2, 2009.
Agnes enjoyed a hobby of sewing and made items for the church and her large family as well as clothes for herself. She also enjoyed playing Bridge and belonged to several Bridge Groups in the Colorado Springs area.
Agnes is survived by five of her six children: Frank (Diane) Fatora III of Houston, Texas; Mary (Sam) Fatora-Tumbaga of Kekaha, Hawaii; Thomas (Louanne) Fatora of Frankford, West Virginia; Carl (Gina-Marie) Fatora of Monument, Colorado; and John (Julie) Fatora of Countryside, Illinois. Her son Paul preceded her in death in December 2024. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren: Matthew, Christopher, and Morgan Fatora; Thaddeus, Teresa Tumbaga, and Tiffani Tumbaga Jiang; Luke, Aaron, and Elise Fatora; Gabrielle Fatora; Frankie Fatora; and John, Amy, and Kevin Fatora. Agnes has two great-grandchildren: Ethan and Sofia.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2650 Parish View Colorado Springs, CO 80919. Cremation is planned and inurnment will be at the Mount St. Francis Columbarium.
