Albert Ray Smith, 58, beloved husband and father passed away April 3, 2014.
Born January 11, 1956 in Kansas City, Missouri to the parents of Bessie M. Kreisel and Harry L. Kreisel, he is proceed in death by his mother, brother Dennis Durr and sister Teresa Durr.
Survived by wife Rebecca Smith (Beckey) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, daughter Elizabeth Michelle Smith (Shelly) of Lawrence, Kansas, father Harry Kreisel of Lincoln, Missouri, brother Frank Smith Jr. (wife Ruth Smith), sister Melissa Owens (husband Jack Owens).
Albert attended Center Senior High School in Kansas City, Missouri, graduated 1974. Upon graduating high school Albert entered the United States Navy. He served in the Gulf War, was aboard the USS Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Kitty Hawk and The Chicago. He proudly served his country for 20 years. Retired.
Albert and Rebecca were married August 16, 1980 in Lemoore, California and were happily married for 33 years.
Albert enjoyed fishing, wood working and was an excellent mechanic.
After Albert retired from the United States Navy he worked as a mechanic in various places in Kansas and Missouri until he accepted a position as a mechanic with the Group Support Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) on contract with Akima on Fort Carson Army base of Fort Carson, Colorado.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday April 9, 2014 at 2:00pm at The Shrine of Remembrance in Colorado Springs, 1730 E Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
