Alfred “Leroy” Belt
Alfred “Leroy” Belt, 76, of Peyton, Colorado died at Penrose Hospital under Hospice care in Colorado Springs, Colorado on May 25, 2013.
The youngest of three children, Leroy was born in Norwood, Colorado on November 8, 1936 to Gladys Irene (Rowland) Belt and Herbert Caldwell Belt.
Leroy graduated from Kirk High School in Kirk, Colorado in 1954. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956 where he studied accounting. He soon married Hilda Leonor DeArkos in Laredo, Texas on August 25, 1956. They were stationed in England and together had four daughters: Leslie, Rhonda, Karen and Tina. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force.
He later married Betty (Calvin) Belt on November 2, 1973 who joined he and his four daughters with her children: Steve, Jim, Debra, Bill, and Cindy Fox.
Leroy enjoyed playing baseball, basketball and spending time hunting and fishing with his buddies and family. He and his late wife Betty loved attending Bronco games and were great fans.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Gladys “Irene” (Rowland) Belt and Herbert Caldwell Belt; and his brother, Rowland “Edwin” Belt, in 1982; and also by his wife, Betty, in 2010.
He is survived by his daughters: Leslie (Brad) Mortensen of Alamosa, Colorado, Rhonda (Rick) Madril of Alamosa, Colorado, Karen (Cary) Korum of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Tina (Rusty) Johnson of Alamosa, Colorado; along with all of Betty’s children: Steve (Sandy) Fox, Jim (Jeanine) Fox, Debra Fox, Bill Fox, and Cindy (Folsom) Fox; and also 31 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Leroy is also survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Ziegler, of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel.
