Alfred Clayton Deskins passed away peacefully at his home on April 22, 2014. Alfred was born February 6, 1933. He was raised in Raven, Virginia, by his mother and father, Thelma and William Deskins. He had four brothers and four sisters. He has two surviving brothers, Tommy and Ronnie.
Alfred joined the United States Army at the age of 17 and fought in the Korean War. While stationed in Germany he met his German sweetheart, Lottie Hauck, and they married on December 10, 1955. Alfred also served his country during the Vietnam War. He was an infantry soldier. While serving our country he received numerous metals for his leadership, gallantry and accomplishments. Alfred retired from the Army in 1970. He then worked at Colorado Springs Cablevision for 28 years. He and Lottie have resided in Colorado Springs for the last 47 years.
Alfred is survived by his wife; son, Robert; and daughters: Darlene Eilenstine, Linda Crane and her husband Mark Crane and their daughter Christa Ramseyer. Alfred and Lottie also had a daughter, Thelma, who passed away in infancy. Alfred has six grandchildren: Arch Jr., Karenda, Matthew, Devin, Ashley, and Maggie; and three great grandchildren: Taylor, Brianna, and Travis.
Alfred’s funeral will be Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs. Viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service starting at 11:00 a.m.
