Bud Read, 87 years old, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023. He was a veteran of 32 years in the Field Artillery (US Army), having served in Korea and Viet Nam.
He began playing saxophone at the age of 6 years old and went on to become a well-known and respected local musician. Bud also fostered growth in young musicians through private instruction on saxophone, clarinet, and flute. He and his wife, Deana, were married for 35 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife and love of his life, Deana; daughters: Linda, Diane, Karen, Michelle, Stephanie, and Jennifer; sons: Scott, Steve, and Terry; 18 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. His daughter, Cissy preceded him in death.
He was a member of Vista Grande Baptist Church and the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) as well as a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). He and his wife enjoyed target shooting, dressing up and playing “Cowboys and Indians” with SASS, being a Boy Scout leader, his music, and most of all his family, the pug-love of his life, Lily, and his adorable rescue pug, Tutti.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 1:30PM, Funeral Service following at 2:00PM, at Vista Grande Baptist Church, 5680 Stetson Hills Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80917.
