Alvin “Al” Carter, age 67, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Al was born on October 25, 1956, to Chioi Watanabe and Calvin Carter. After graduating from Palmer High School, he enlisted in the United States Army. After serving in the military, he came home to Colorado Springs where he married his high school sweetheart, Mae Henry, and they began a life together.

Al enjoyed working with his hands and was able to hone his skills by working in construction, leading his own landscaping crew, and long-distance truck transporting. Some of his passions in life included building and restoring furniture, fishing and camping, playing pranks, shooting pool, martial arts, and training dogs. He will always be remembered for the things that he loved to do in life.

Al was preceded in death by both parents; older sister; and several aunts. He leaves behind wife, Mae Carter; and aunt, Keiko Summerville, of Colorado Springs; sister, Vicci Grey, of Colorado Springs; daughters: Tori DeGraffe of Texas, Theresa Powers, Blanch Henry, and Winnie Clark, all of Colorado Springs; and son, James Clark, also of Colorado Springs. He also leaves niece, Monica, of South Carolina; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Shrine of Remembrance, “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910 on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 12:00 pm. A Funeral Service is to follow immediately at 1:00 pm and a burial at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903 at 2:00 pm.

  2. I knew Alvin when he was very young, I was a friend of his sisters Yaseyo, His mom Chioi taught me how to sew along with Yaseyo, doll clothing. I really enjoyed the stories of Japan that Chioi would speak of how during school when she was a young girl in Japan they would climb Mt. Fuji.. That experience of the whole family remains vivid in my mind to this day. They were so wonderful.. I miss them all.. But always thinking of them.. ♥
