Anastasia Moynihan, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at a local assisted living facility. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Anastasia Marie Doherty was born to the late Patrick and Sarah (Harkins) Doherty in Boston, Massachusetts. She attended high school there and later met Michael Joseph Moynihan at a dance. They married on September 26, 1953 in Boston.
She was a wonderful homemaker, but she also worked at Walter Drake for over 10 years and at Marshall’s Clothing Store. She volunteered with Catholic Women of Chapel and the Doll Workshop at Peterson AFB Chapel and was a member of the British Birds Ladies’ Club. She was very proud of her Irish heritage. Ann and Mike were founding members of the Colorado Springs Irish American Club.
Anne is survived by her sons: Sean Moynihan of Arvada, Colorado; James (wife, Sylvia) Moynihan of Wildomar, California; Steven Moynihan of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; and her daughters: Maureen Rulfs of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Kathleen Schubert of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She has seven wonderful grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers and her beloved husband, Mike in 2011.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Peterson Air Force Base Chapel. Friends may come at 12:30 pm. A Luncheon Reception will follow at 2:30 pm at The Retired Enlisted Association. Graveside services will take place on Monday at 9:00 am at Evergreen Cemetery.
Anne never met a stranger and with a wonderful sense of humor, made many friends. She loved to crack jokes and laugh with her friends and family. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
