Anne M. Bonaventura, age 84, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1971 and formerly of Grand Junction and Silverton, Colorado, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at a care facility in Loveland, Colorado. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Anna Marie Lucci (Anne) was born on September 4, 1927 in El Moro Colorado to the late Peter and Julia (Lenich) Lucci. She grew up on a farm in Arvada and was a graduate of Arvada High School. She married John Dominic Bonaventura on November 21, 1960 in St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Arvada. She was a physician’s assistant and later worked in the cafeteria at Divine Redeemer Catholic School in Colorado Springs. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Holy Apostles Parish. She loved the Colorado mountains, fishing, hunting for wild mushrooms, cooking, butterflies, and making an unforgettable spaghetti sauce.
She was committed to her two sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandson.
She is survived by her two sons: Michael (wife, Gail) Bonaventura of Florissant, Colorado; Mark (wife, Judy) Bonaventura of Loveland, Colorado; granddaughter Tammy (husband, Mike) of Florissant, Colorado; and great-grandson Dylan Thoe.
She was preceded in death by: her husband John, grandson David; and an infant sister Catherine Lucci.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 Carefree Circle North, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80917. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the church. A reception will follow the mass at the church. Private interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Anne always made others feel good and had a great sense of humor. Anne exemplified unconditional love and will be greatly missed.
