Antonio “Tony” Tanney Chavez, 82, passed away on May 26, 2016. He was a 53 year resident of Colorado Springs.

Tony was born on July 3, 1933, to Tanney and Sophia Armenta Chavez in Avondale, Colorado. Tony attended school in Avondale, Colorado, and served in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Civil Service in 1999. On September 9, 2000, he married Joyce Chavez in Littleton, Colorado.

Tony adored his grandchildren. He also enjoyed shooting and reading. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Tony is survived by his wife, Joyce; three sons: Matthew, of Utah, J. Tanney (Kate), of Utah, and Ryan (Elizabeth), of Virginia; three daughters: Marcella Davis, of Utah, Stephanie, of Colorado and Nita, of New Mexico; a stepson, Bryan Hankel (Bambi), of Colorado; stepdaughter, Lynnette McGinnis, of Colorado; 11 grandchildren; sisters: Hazel Martinez, of Colorado and Elsie Uglow, of Washington; and brother Rudy (Olivia), of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lillian Canchoa; and his brother, Sam.

He was loved by so many and touched many lives. He will be greatly missed.

Services will be Wednesday, June 1st at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 150 Pine Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO, with visitation 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am.

Interment, with Military Honors, at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado, on Thursday, June 2nd, 2016.
