Major Arthur Gerard Boucher, 81, died peacefully in Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 08, 2015. A Veteran of the Vietnam War, he also commanded the HHC, 7th Army Tng; USAREUR E1. Throughout his 28 years of Military Service, Major Boucher received numerous awards.

Arthur was born on August 03, 1933 in New Bedford, MA to Arthur and Katherine Boucher. He was a 1951 graduate of Fairhaven High School in Fairhaven, MA. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Army. In 1954, he wanted to obtain his college degree so he entered into Providence College and graduated in 1959. From September 1959 to May 1960 he taught 7th and 8th grade English, Reading and Social Studies. During this year, he was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Reserve. In June 1960, he returned to active duty and honorably retired from the Army in February 1979.

Arthur was a very proud veteran as well as a loving husband. He married Georgiana Sadako Honda in Denver, CO in December 1965. He and Georgiana moved to Colorado Springs and remained there until their deaths. He was an active member of his church and community.

Arthur’s love of music eventually led him to join America the Beautiful Chorus – a four part barbershop harmony group. He participated in numerous shows and competitions over several years. One of Arthur’s favorite things while in the group was to travel around locally being a “singing telegram” for private parties and functions. He loved to entertain any and all that would listen. He was a jokester and had a witty sense of humor. He loved to play on his thick east coast accent. He had a love for animals –especially dogs- as well as a love for peanut butter crackers and Pringles chips.

Arthur is survived by two sisters, Barbara Machado (Boucher) of Fairhaven, MA and Shirley Pelland (Boucher) of Acushnet, MA. He is also survived by dozens of nieces, nephews, great friends and a loving Goddaughter, Carin Lawrence (Sutherland) Denver, CO whom he and Georgie baptized as their Godchild in 1972.

A viewing will take place at the Shrine of Remembrance located at 1730 Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO on Friday, July 17 between 5:00-7:00 p.m. The service will be held the following day, Saturday the 18th, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church located at 9 El Pomar Road, Colorado Springs, CO at 10:00 am. Funeral arrangements are provided by Shrine of Remembrance. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in his memory to the Humane Society of Pikes Peak Region located at 610 Abbot Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80905.
