Lillian Atkinson, of Colorado Springs passed away on April 9th, 2022. Having celebrated her 93rd birthday with family and friends on March 30th, she passed peacefully at home with her children by her side after a short battle with recurring lymphoma.
Lillian was an energetic, gregarious woman who became friends with almost everyone she met. She enjoyed her many years as a school secretary in District 11, which gave her the opportunity to share summer vacations and school holidays with her family. Embracing her French heritage led her to travel extensively in France and elsewhere in Europe and found her numerous friends in the Colorado Springs French community. A big fan of beaches, having been born and raised in Rhode Island, she also had a deep love for Hawaii, especially the Garden Isle of Kauai.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Donald Atkinson, and is survived by her daughter, Nina McClure of Englewood CO, son Bill Atkinson and his wife Pat, and youngest son David Atkinson, all of Colorado Springs.
A memorial service is planned for Wednesday April 27th at 2 PM, at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd in Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society in her name would be appreciated.

23 Jul 2022How sad I am to learn that you passed away. You and your mother were such a good friend to my mom, Leone, also from France but had retired in Colorado Springs with my father and I. You were my mentor as I listened to you about becoming an Admin. Assistant for District 11, and I did for 33 yrs. Thank you for your friendship you will be missed. Deepest sympathy to the children
