June 17, 1920 – January 26, 2016
August Marion Fons, Jr., loving and faithful husband of Nila for 67 years, beloved father, and dear friend, passed away on January 26, 2016.
August is survived by his children: August III, Bryan and Ruth; daughters-in-law: Lynn Fons, and Gabriela Treviño-Fons; grandchildren: Trina and Chelsea; great-grandchildren: Lora and Kenneth; and many cherished friends. He loved them with all his heart.
August served our nation with honor, dignity, and distinction in World War II and Korea, and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. He ended his career as Chief Intelligence Officer, NORAD. His deep faith, indelible spirit, and loving heart lifted and sustained family, friends, and all who met him. Our grief is eased only by knowing that he is with his Creator and surrounded by loved ones who have patiently awaited his arrival.
Your spiritual presence remains with us, as you patiently await our arrival. Well done, August.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Private inurnment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
