Benjamin “Benny” Shannon
March 17, 1926 – July 24, 2016

Benjamin “Benny” Shannon, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1960 and formerly of Trinidad Colorado, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was a Food Service Supervisor with the United States Civil Service and was a disabled United States Navy Veteran, serving his country during WWII (1944-1946).

Benny was born on March 17, 1926 to Pedro and Eleanor (Gonzales) Shannon in Bon Carbo, Colorado. He married Herminia “Minnie” Flynn in Trinidad, Colorado and they had 67 happy years together.

He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard, and was a truck enthusiast. But most of all, he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie; his son, James; his brother, Fred; his grandson, Justin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. with a Rosary at 10:00 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. all on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3122 Poinsetta Drive. A committal service will follow the Mass and will be held at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, with a reception afterwards back at the church.
