Betty F. Martin, age 91, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1950 and formerly of Hays, Kansas, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Life Care Center in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker.

Betty Fay Brown was born on December 20, 1920 in Hays, Kansas to the late Ollie and Della (Corder) Brown. She attended schools in Hays and married Burnett Gregg in May of 1950 in Colorado Springs. Mr. Gregg passed away in 1966. She married LTC Charles R. Martin, USAF (Ret.) in April of 1968 in Colorado Springs and LTC Martin died in December of 1999.

Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Retired Officers Wives Club. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the Sweet Adelines Chorus and enjoyed playing the piano. She especially loved her 1966 Thunderbird and her dogs, “Heidi” and “Molly.”

She is survived by her two children: Russell L. (Cathy) Gregg of Austin, Texas and Barbara L. Walters of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Gray of Key Biscayne, Florida; and two grandchildren: Lee (Miranda) Gregg and Eric Gregg. Betty has three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Gregg and a brother, Corder Brown.

Memorial Services are planned for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Cremation is planned and burial will take place in Hays, Kansas.
