MAJOR (Ret.) BILLY G. ALLISON, USAF, 78 of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away January 26, 2015 at his home. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a Procurement and Purchasing Manager for Ford Aerospace Corporation before retiring in 1987 and also was retired from the United States Air Force.
MAJOR Allison was born November 27, 1936, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Harvey and Vera (Scarlett) Allison. MAJOR Allison was a graduate of Wichita Falls Senior High School and Midwestern State University. Upon graduation, he served in the U. S. Navy and Air Force for 26 years and received the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Combat Readiness Medal, AF Longevity Service Award with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and National Defense Medal, among other awards. He retired from the Air Force in 1981.
He lived in Colorado Springs since 1968 and was a Lifetime member of The Retired Officers Association, the Disabled American Veterans and a member of The American Legion Post 209. MAJOR Allison was a supporter of competitive swimming for many years as President of the Pikes Peak Swimming Association, Vice Chairman of the Colorado Competitive Swimming Committee, Swim Meet Manager and National Swimming Official for many competitive swim meets including the first two National Sports Festivals in Colorado Springs. As a grandfather, he enjoyed being a devoted fan for his granddaughters at their sporting events often arriving at the venue before any of the competitors.
MAJOR Allison was married September 3, 1955, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Mary Alice Gillott, who is deceased. He is predeceased by his son, Jeffery. He was married March 3, 1987, in Littleton, Colorado, to La Quita M. Corbett, who survives.
He also is survived by a daughter, Diane Allison Jones of Colorado Springs, two brothers, Jackie W. of Longview, Texas, Jerry E. of San Antonio, Texas, and three granddaughters, Allison Jones (Sara) of Colorado Springs, Haley Riordan (Michael) of Long Island, New York, and Chelsea Allison (Yuri) of Colorado Springs.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, Friday, January 30, 2015. The funeral service will follow at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 South Hancock Expressway.

13 Feb 2023Seeing this obituary makes me so sad. I truly liked working for Billy at Ford Aerospace in Colorado Springs in the ‘80’s. Billy was such a fantastic person and mentor. RIP Billy.
