Billy Wayne Reed, Sr., a resident of Colorado Springs since 1970, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022. He was formerly a resident of Tennessee.
Billy was born on July 8, 1950 in Shelbyville, Tennessee, to Raymond Reed and Christine Reed. He served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran who was 100% disabled from injuries he sustained in Vietnam and from exposure to Agent Orange. He also had worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Colorado Springs. He married Gloria Lorraine Gerardo on August 19, 1973 in Colorado Springs.
He is survived by two sons: Joseph Andres Reed (Stephanie) and Billy Wayne Reed, Jr.; a sister, Edna Kimbril (Charlie); 2 granddaughters: Felicia Simmons (Corbin) and Rachel Reed; and 3 great-grandchildren: Colby Simmons, Adeline Simmons, and Piper Reed.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., with burial and military honors to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Expy.
