Brian Scott Wilson, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on January 31, 2025, in Yamato, Japan while working as a civil servant with the U.S. Army Japan G2.  He was a resident of Colorado since 2005.  He retired from the Air Force in November 2008 as a Chief Master Sergeant after 28 years of active military service to his country.

Brian was born on December 4, 1961, to Donald and Nancy Wilson in Columbia, MO.

Brian entered the Air Force in September 1980 as a Security Police Specialist after the birth of his first daughter, Somer, in 1979. His first duty station was at Minot AFB, ND, which is where he met his wife, Jackie, an Air Force Paralegal Specialist, also stationed at Minot AFB, ND.  Brian and Jackie were married on January 28, 1984.

While at Minot AFB, ND, Brian and Jackie celebrated the birth of their son, Kyle, in 1986 and then received a joint assignment to Bitburg AB, Germany in September.  Brian, Jackie, Somer, and Kyle traveled to Germany as a new family.  They welcomed the birth of their daughter, Alexndra (Alie), about a year later in 1987.  The Wilsons traveled the world to multiple assignments as a military family.  Brian served several remote tours with the first to Goose Bay, Canada, right after he and Jackie met.  He loved her so much, he had his dad mail the engagement ring to Jackie (unbeknownst to her), telling her not to open the box until he called.  He then asked her to marry him over the phone and returned to Minot AFB to marry her halfway through his tour.  His next remote tour was to Kuwait.  He also deployed to Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1990-1991 then to Kosovo in 1998.

A true patriot, Brian wanted to continue to serve his country after he retired, so he aggressively persued a position with the civil service.  He proudly served with FEMA, Emergency Management, from October 2010 to January 2018 driving 75 miles one-way to work.  He then served as the Special Security Officer, GG-13, with the U.S. Army Japan G2 (Intelligence) from February 2018 to January 31, 2025.

His is survived by his wife Jackie, his daughter Somer, their son Kyle and daughter Alie (Jankowski), his parents Donald and Nancy, brothers Keith, Dean, and Geoff, his sisters Julie and Jennifer, and grandchildren Anya, Damien, Lyric, Malachi, Killian, and Aerith.

Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, on February 24, 2025, at the Shrine of Remembrance, “America the Beautiful” Chapel.  The memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Shrine of Remembrance, “America the Beautiful” Chapel.  Interment will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Pikes Peak National Cemetery with military honors provided by United States Air Force High Frontier Honor Guard, Peterson Space Force Base.

The Wilson and Jankowski families would like to thank American Airlines and the Dallas Fort Worth Airport Honor Team for providing military honors upon Brian’s arrival and departure on Friday, February 21, 2025.  They would also like to thank the Fort Carson Honor Guard for providing military honors at the Denver International Airport upon his arrival and again at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel on Friday, February 21, 2025.

Brian AKA, “Big Sarge” to many in the Security Forces community and notably those assigned with him at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany; was a superb leader, mentor and friend to so many! His legacy certainly lives on in everyone he impacted, especially a “young gun” (as I was called) like me! May “Big Sarge” rest peacefully in Heaven knowing that in him; GOD was well pleased!
