Carl L. Whittemore, age 83, a resident of Widefield, Colorado, for fifty-one years, passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2023.

He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Carl R. and Verla Keith Whittemore. He graduated from Earlville High School in Earlville, Iowa in 1957. Carl joined the U.S. Army in 1957 and completed his basic training at Fort Carson, Colorado. He met and married his beloved wife, Giselle, while serving in Toul, France. He served in the Military Police (MP) and Criminal Investigation Division (CID) for over twenty years, serving in Vietnam in 1967 and in Korea in 1973. Carl was a perfectionist and enjoyed consistently making delicious treats and running a successful business. He worked at Cheyenne Mountain Conference Resort as a night auditor until he retired in 2005. Carl enjoyed working in his yard, baking bread, grilling, fishing, watching all sports on TV, playing cards with friends and beautiful drives up to Cripple Creek, Colorado to try his luck.

Carl is survived by his companion, Anna Darmody. He is also survived by his children: Michelle (husband, Robert) Stuart, Michael (partner, Diana Riley) Whittemore, Mariane Whittemore, Stephanie Whittemore; and grandchildren: Amber (husband, Yeong Ho Youm and future great grandchild) Whittemore and Creighten Chambers; his brother, David (wife, Jan) Whittemore; sisters: Marjorie Whitley, Judy Hussman.
