Carmela Conocchioli of Colorado Springs, CO passed away on March 20, 2014. Carmela was born on September 3, 1919 to Silvestro and Maria Ferluga in Trieste, Italy. She worked as a manager for a men’s clothing design manufacturer.

On March 7, 1947, she married Olindo Conocchioli. She later became a full time mom and housewife. Carmela moved to the United States with her husband and two daughters in 1952 and has been a Colorado Springs resident since 1959. Carmela was a strong and loving woman who enjoyed cooking, sewing, shopping, music, and spending time with her family. She loved to talk about current events or stories from her past. Carmela not only spoke with conviction and enthusiasm, but listened and provided great advice and fond memories to her family and friends. She’s remembered for her smile, kindness, love, wisdom, forthrightness, and of course, her great Italian cooking. She will be greatly missed.

Carmela is survived by her sister Silvana, her daughters Gianna and Patricia, her son-in-law Robert, her granddaughter Jennifer, her grandson-in-law Floyd, and her great granddaughter Elizabeth. Carmela is preceded in death by her husband Olindo, her brother Silvio, her sister Maria, and her brother Bruno.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 25 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard Colorado Springs, CO, 80910. A burial at Evergreen Cemetery will take place following the services. A reception for friends and family will be at the Olympian Plaza Reception & Event Center at 975 S. Union Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO, 80910.
