Carole Annette Laxton, age 87, passed away on May 23, 2023.
Carole was born in Quincy, Illinois on July 15, 1935 to Guy R. Kimbrough and
Carolyn E. (Wayland) Kimbrough. Carole is survived by sisters, Sandra S. Jones and Debra E. Bensenberg, both of Colorado Springs.
Carole lived in Colorado Springs for 80 years. She graduated from Colorado Springs High School (Palmer) in 1953. She eventually went to work for Hewlett Packard.
She married Richard L. McCall in April, 1954. They had three children: Cynthia, Richard and Michael. In 1970, Carole married Larry N. Laxton and had one son, Larry Timothy Laxton.
Carole was a homemaker, mother, step-mother and grandmother with a very kind, generous and creative spirit. She became an integral part of the Southern Colorado AIDS Project in 1993 and remained so until her death. She left behind five children, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Laxton, and two sons, Michael L. McCall and Kenneth A. Laxton.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
A reception will be held at the Satellite Hotel Restaurant, 411 Lakewood Circle, immediately following the service.
