Carolyn Ethel Stuart McMurtry
7-7-1940 to 5-7-2015

Carolyn passed away surrounded by family after a long courageous fight against cancer.

She was a native to Colorado, born to Oren and Lucille Stuart on July 7, 1940 in Colorado Springs. She graduated from Colorado Springs High School. She worked at Penrose Hospital and was a decorated employee. She married Gaylon McMurtry in 1965. As part of their Army life they travelled around America for a few years before settling back in Colorado Springs. She was active in her church, helping those who needed aid with travel, working with children and in women’s ministry. She was a licensed daycare provider for many years in Colorado Springs and Black Forest. She was a volunteer at Golden Bell Camp in Divide. She and her husband had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She was a compassionate, sweet lady who served her Lord and loved her family. Carolyn was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Gaylon; her children: Roy McMurtry, Becki Stelting, and Melody Ronk; her wonderful grandchildren: Amber Welsh, Josh and Jacob Ronk, Brittany Chung, Carolyn Stelting, and Logan and Cole McMurtry; and her beautiful great-granddaughter, Margaret Chung; and great-grandson, baby boy Chung on the way.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015, 10am at Woodland Park Nazarene Church, 750 N. Hwy. 67, Woodland Park, CO 80863. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Danny Walker Memorial Chapel at Golden Bell Camp, 380 County Rd. 512, Divide, CO 80814.
