Carolyn Josephine (Jo) Asdel, formerly Carolyn Josephine Cesario, 91, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011.
She was born on December 14, 1919 in Trinidad, Colorado to John and Anna Cesario. Carolyn was one of six children. Carolyn was married to Mario Maio (1914-1973) on July 1, 1939. They were married for 35 years before his passing. Mario and Carolyn were the proud parents to five children: Daniel, Carol, Robert, Richard and Ronald. Carolyn and Mario Maio were owner/operators of Service Typographers – a local graphics arts business which they started in 1957. Carolyn was later married to Wallace Asdel on February 15, 1979.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert Maio and Ronald Maio; two daughters-in-laws, Janis Maio and Valerie Maio; six grandchildren: Heather Olson, Marissa Rauchelau, Tyler Maio, Kristen Maio, Logan Maio, Mackenzie Maio and Connor Maio, and two great-grandchildren: Gabriella and Genevieve.
Carolyn, known by her family as Coco, was beloved by all who were blessed knowing her. Her passion for life was apparent in any conversation she had. Although Carolyn was small in stature, she was full of life and enthusiasm. She was a great story teller and could captivate any audience. She was always thoughtful to her family and friends. She was a strong woman and she always showed great style, grace and class. Her bright blue eyes could light up any room.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Mario Maio; son, Richard Maio; daughter, Carol Knutson; second husband, Wallace Asdel; and son, Daniel Maio.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, December 3rd at 12:00 Noon. Services will be held at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910, 719 634-1597. A reception will follow the memorial service; the reception location will be announced after the memorial services.
The family requests donations be sent to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
