Cecil Luna, age 88 years, who lived in Colorado Springs for 60 years, passed away November 11, 2015 in his daughter’s home in Colorado Springs.

Cecil was born in Brush, Weldon County, Colorado on April 10, 1927 to Joe and Consuelo (Ramos) Luna. He is one of 14 children. He married Carolina Blan at the age of 23 and they had 5 children together. She preceded him in death at the age of 39 in 1973. He later married Margaret Burhans Luna in 1987.

Cecil loved to hunt deer, elk and small game. He also enjoyed fishing and camping. He made a vegetable garden every May. He worked as a pipe fitter for most of his life. He helped in the building of the Broadmoor Hotel, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and the Air Force Academy.

Cecil is survived by his 5 children: Cecil (Alma), Rita Delatorre (Carlos), Richard, Christopher (Leann), and Paul (Tim); 8 grandchildren: Carl and Dominic from son Cecil, Priscilla Maes, Carlos Maes, David Maes, and Yvette Delatorre from daughter Rita, and Anthony and Cheyenne from son Christopher; and one step-daughter, Gail Burhans. All live in Colorado Springs. He also has thirteen great-grandchildren: Isaiah Maes, Marissa Maes, Carlos Maes Jr., and Asia Maes live in Santa Maria, California; Elizabeth, Alyssa Valerio, Angelina Maes, Davius Maes, Adelina Maes, live in Colorado Springs; and Johnny Alcorta, David Alcorta, James Alcorta and Daniel Alcorta live in San Antonio, Texas. Cecil also has two living brothers, Manuel Luna and Daniel Luna living in Denver; two living sisters, Lucille Bregman lives in Denver and Virginia Duran lives in Rio Rancho, New Mexico; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Visitation, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd.

Due to inclement weather, the location of services will now be at the funeral home.
Funeral Services, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel.

Interment, Evergreen Cemetery.
