Charles A. “Chuck” Jones, age 85, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011. He was a retired Deputy Chief Firefighter in Long Beach, California and a United States Army veteran who served his country in WWII.
Chuck was born on June 13, 1926 to John Benjimin and Martha Amelia (Rauch) Jones in Long Beach, California. He was raised in Long Beach and lived there until moving to Colorado Springs in 1999. He married Audrey Quay Oaks on July 2, 1977 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He enjoyed sports and was an avid fisherman who especially loved deep sea fishing. He also was a talented remodeler and once built an entire house.
He is survived by his wife, Quay Oaks; his daughter, Linda Louise (husband Joe) Didier; three grandchildren: Julie (husband Josh) Dunlap, Scott (wife Sharon) Rios, and Gina Anderson; and his 5 great-grandchildren: Shelby, Raina, Gavin, Anthony, and Kayla. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Lynn Jones; two sisters: Lillian Burt and Elizabeth Conley; and a nephew, Alan Conley.
Private services are planned. The inurnment will also be private.
