Charles B. Day, Jr.
July 21, 1927 – February 9, 2018

Charles B. Day, Jr. passed away at his home February 9, 2018. Born in Canon City, Colorado. He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Day Sr.; sister, Marjorie Day Tevebaugh; and nephew, Kevin Price Tevebaugh. He is survived by “daughter” Kristin Shannon, and many lifelong friends.

He was a graduate of Colorado Springs High School and 1948 graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, New York City. He was on the music staff of the First Christian Church, First United Methodist Church, and Temple Beth-El. From 1964-1991 he was Command Director of Chapel Music at Ft. Carson.

A long-time teacher of piano, vocal coach and accompanist in Colorado Springs, he was influential with a group of friends, in establishing the Opera in Colorado Springs, called “The Theatre Singers” later becoming the Colorado Opera Association. He was also one of the first believers in the idea of the Colorado Springs Conservatory, and a champion for students, and mentor to many.

He performed with the Opera Association, CS Chorale, and the Colorado College Opera Festival for many years. He was a member of the Colorado Springs Music Club, The American Music Society, and the National Federation of Musicians.

At Charles’ request there will be no funeral.
