Charles “Chuck” Guthrie, a man greatly loved for his friendship, devoted service and humor passed away Sunday, June 18 in Monument, Colorado. He was born on June 6, 1944 in Vincennes, Indiana, the cherished only son of Chester and Winifred Guthrie. He married his beloved Kyung Hee Guthrie on November 21, 1989.
He honorably served his country in peace and wartime, with meritorious military service in Vietnam and South Korea, with expertise as an Army Foreign Area Officer; and his subsequent civilian efforts and expertise supporting missile defense greatly facilitated and advanced international cooperative efforts with many missile defense partner nations.
An avid outdoorsman, Charles enjoyed hunting and fishing, and sharing his enthusiastic love for the beauty of Colorado with family and many friends. He traveled throughout the world, and will ever be cherished for his wisdom, the goodness and devotion of his heart, and his skillful storytelling.
Charles is survived by his devoted wife Kyung Hee, sister Deb, son Chip, and a granddaughter, Vera.
A celebration of life will be held on June 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910.
