Cheryl Kathleen Fahrney, age 78, joined the Lord on Friday, September 27, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Joan Fahrney, and her sister, Karen Craig. She is survived by sisters, Janice Kelble and Lauren Schedell; brother, Keith Fahrney; and children: Christine Green (Brian Buchanan and son Braden); Anthony Oody (Celina) and children: Dax Rosenbalm, Skylar, Izaak, Sadie Bradsby, and Teagan Millette; Alexandra Frank (Devin Sherman) and children: Catalana Fern (Max Waller), Anthony and Dominik Sherman; two great-grandchildren; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Cher, as she preferred to be called, graduated from Air Academy High in 1964. She married Jack Oody in 1964 and moved to Tennessee for many years. She later returned to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she remained until her passing. There she attended the Colorado Springs College of Business in 1977 and studied Photojournalism at Pikes Peak Community College in 1992, but she ultimately found the job she loved working in Children’s Human Services, which she retired from at The Family Visitation Center, El Paso County.
Cher loved studying the Bible. She loved children, dogs, a good laugh, big hugs, and encouraging everyone she knew. She loved her family unconditionally, graciously, and without end. Visits with her children and grandchildren brought her very much joy. She had many lifelong friends and touched the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Her cremains will be included in the Rose Garden at the Shrine of Remembrance at a beautiful pond. A memorial service will be held on or around November 3, 2024, with details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you help someone in need, visit a nursing home, reward healthcare workers, or even hold a door for someone.
Cher was blessed with many caring and amazing nurses, CNAs, and staff throughout her long health battle, and we appreciate and care for them all greatly.
