Chester “Chet” Arnold Stewart
Chet, age 92, passed away on 22 July 2014. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for 50 years, where he owned and operated Stewart Insurance for 48 years.
Chet was born on 30 April 1922 to Doc and Maggie Stewart (Howell) in Pikeville, Kentucky. In 1943, Chet married Ruth “Bunny” Stewart (Bundy) in Kentucky. After Bunny’s passing in 1996, Chet married Alva Anderson in 1998 in Texas.
Chet enjoyed traveling throughout the country in his motor home. He was National Commander of the Legion of Honor, Al Kaly Shrine, served as President of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Family Motor Coach Association, a member of the Freemasons, American Legion, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, and many more. After graduating from Elkhorn City High School, Kentucky, Chet enlisted in the United States Air Force, obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Colorado College, Colorado, and received his commission in the Air Force Reserves where he retired with the rank of Major after 26 years of military service.
He is survived by his loving wife, Alva Stewart (Anderson); his daughter, Deborah Stewart-Selander; his siblings: Ed Stewart and Mary Harper; his grandchildren: Donelle Bullock and Kyle Marquis; and his great-grandchildren: Dylan and Dalton Dighans.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, 28 July 2014 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. A reception will be held following the funeral at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
