Christina Eutemia Hernandez, age 86, passed away on July 5, 2018. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for 66 years and was formerly a resident of La Junta.
Christina was born on December 28, 1931 to Apolinar Mascarenas and Aniseta (Lucero) Mascarenas in La Junta, Colorado. On June 15, 1950 she married Ruben G. Hernandez in La Junta, Colorado.
Christina was fond of gardening, sewing, and very much into baseball; however, her life was dedicated to serving our Lord Jesus Christ and her family. She was baptized in Jesus’s name at the age of 17; she would always say she served the Lord for 70 years. She also enjoyed teaching Sunday school and sharing her testimony with everyone. She was a member of Life Church and enjoyed the word of God and cherished the time she had with her brothers & sisters of the church.
She is survived by her children: Phil & Carla – Colorado Springs, Floyd & Marti – Colorado Springs, Bernadine & Ray (Rios) – Denver, James & Debbie – Denver, and Daniel – Colorado Springs; her siblings: Bates Rodriguez & Cecilia Gutiérrez; her grandchildren: Ephraim, Jonathan, Eutemia, Melody, Amanda, Jason, Alisa, Isaac, and Ruben. She had 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben; daughter, Yolanda; and grandson, Angelo.
A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 10, 2018 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 also at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A reception will be held following the funeral service at Life Church, 1318 North Circle Dr. Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
