Clarence Edward Pfeifer, age 85, passed away December 7, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Clarence was born October 14, 1930, in Greeley County, Kansas to John and Elizabeth Pfeifer. He entered the Army in December 1950 and served in the Korean War as one of the most effective machine gunners on the front lines until his discharge in December 1953. Clarence was honored for his service with 3 bronze stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Clarence met Carol Sue Shugart, at a dance in Hugo, Colorado, whom he married in 1953. He began his career in plumbing and heating as a journeyman for Benbo in 1957, and started his own successful business, Arrow Plumbing and Heat in 1967. He enjoyed multiple hobbies through his years including fishing, bowling, golf, dining with his buddies, and had a special affinity for slot machines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth; his brothers, Bernard and Edward; and his sisters, Sevrena Wimmer, Lorena Swanson and Arlene Lennox. Clarence is survived by his wife, Carol Sue; his sons, Blake and Jeffrey; his brother, William; and his sisters, Helen Messersmith, Theresa Beedy, Alice Shafer, and Lucille Mann.
Viewing will be offered on Friday, December 11, from 5-7 p.m. and memorial services will be held Saturday, December 12, at 2 p.m. all at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard.
