Clifford Earl Katalin, 87, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2014. Born on December 20, 1926 as the only child to parents John and Laura Katalin.
Cliff grew up in Flint, Michigan graduating from Bendle High School and then worked for General Motors Buick Division. Cliff attended Michigan State University before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1950, where he then served in Korea during the Korean War.
After returning home, he was stationed at Utah General Depot in Ogden, Utah, where he later married Carol JaNee Swenson on November 7, 1953. Cliff and Carol then moved their family to Colorado in 1961, where he graduated from finance school at CU Boulder and began his banking career with Zions Bank. Cliff was President of Rocky Mountain Industrial Bank, President of the Colorado Industrial Bankers Association, and Director of Zions Colorado Division of Banks.
In addition to his professional career, Cliff served on the Pikes Peak Council of the Boy Scouts of America for many years, was a 50 year member of the El Paso Club, and was a 30 year member of the Garden of the Gods Club. Cliff was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and there served in various voluntary positions. Cliff enjoyed many activities with his family including golf, skiing, and fishing. Cliff was very loved by his family and friends. He will always be remembered as a nurturing father, loving husband, and fantastic grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Carol, whom he enjoyed 61 happy years of marriage with, his 4 children and their families, including 7 grandchildren.
The viewing will be held at 10:00am, followed by funeral services at 11:00am on Saturday October 25th, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5375 Centennial Blvd.
