Clyde was born March 20, 1928 in Gravette, Arkansas to Luther and Naomi (Bailey) Mitchell. He was the eldest of four brothers: Levi, Ken and Don Mitchell and one sister, Dona Lu Mitchell, all who have predeceased him, and two half siblings, Max Moss and Earlene Moss Allen.

Clyde was a graduate of Littleton High School and the University of Colorado. He was Past President of the Board of Realtors South Denver and Salida/Buena Vista. Clyde was responsible for the creation of three different realtor services in Harlingen, Texas, Salida Colorado and South Denver. His residences included: Anderson, Missouri, Pasadena, California, and Littleton, Englewood, Salida, and most recently, the Myron Stratton Home in Colorado Springs. Clyde loved his real estate work and being a realtor. Home sales were his pride and joy, and he was a Realtor Emeritus. He also enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, football, golf and the Republican party, where he served actively since 1950, and was a party member for 61 years. He was also an Elks Lodge Lifetime Member.

Clyde had many friends and even more acquaintances and was often remembered for his classic one liners and sense of humor.
