Clyde O. “Bus” Hoyt, Jr.
Clyde O. “Bus” Hoyt, Jr. of Colorado Springs died Sunday, March 24, 2013. He had owned and operated Hoyt Construction Company, Inc. for 25 years before retiring.
Mr. Hoyt was born July 14, 1915 in Hiawatha, Kansas to Clyde and Lottie Hoyt.
He had been a local resident since 1921 and graduated from Colorado Springs High School (Palmer) in 1933. He served in the Army in 1945-1946 in occupied Japan.
He was a member of Carpenter’s Local #515, Tejon Lodge #104 AF & AM, Rocky Mountain Consistory, Al Kaly Shrine, Al Kaly Shrine Band, and First Christian Church where he had served as an elder and deacon. He had 5 foster children, all from foreign countries.
He was married on November 18, 1937 to Dorothy N. “Bobbie” Hiatt who preceded her husband in death after 63 years of marriage.
Bus is survived by two daughters: Donna McWhirter (David), and Claudia Lipich; and one son, Cliff Hoyt (Linda). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A service of celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2013 at First Christian Church, 16 East Platte Avenue. Private inurnment will take place at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum.
