Coleman Harris

Coleman Harris, age 88, died on July 25, 2014. Cole was born on November 12, 1925 in Clinton, Illinois. He served in the army at the end of World War II, and in 1949 he graduated from flight school and began his 20 year career in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot. In 1954 he married Marilyn, his beloved wife of 60 years. After retiring from the Air Force, Cole had a successful sales and marketing career in the computer industry. Upon retiring from his business career, he returned to flying and became a flight instructor at the Peterson Air Force Base Aero Club.

Cole is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Steve; daughter, Joan; daughter-in-law, Marcia; son-in-law, Jeff; and grandchildren: Daniel, Jonah, Nicole, Michael, and Sam.

Cole loved flying, the mountains, hiking, skiing, traditional jazz music, the Broncos, the Rockies, gourmet cooking, quantum physics, his country, and his family.

To celebrate Cole’s life, a memorial service with full military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, 80910. A reception will follow the service at Cole and Marilyn’s home in Gleneagle.
