Constance “Connie” Joyce Titus, age 85, passed away on April 28, 2018. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for over 35 years and was formerly a resident of Kansas City and Little Rock.
Connie was born on August 26, 1932 to Gilford and Mildred King in Kansas City, Kansas. On August 23, 1953 she married the love of her life, Dr. Myer L. Titus, in Kansas City, Kansas and they enjoyed 59 years of marital bliss together.
Connie was fond of singing in the choir, music, dancing and gardening. She also enjoyed cooking and hosting grand receptions and parties in her capacity as the First Lady of Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas. She graduated from Sumner High School in Kansas City, Kansas in 1952.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Joy Titus-Bengogullari (Erdal); her grandchildren: Conti Moore Smith (Nicholas) and Jeyda Bengogullari; and her great-grandchild, Titus Smith. She was preceded in death by Dr. Myer L. Titus and her son, Myer Greg Titus.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Payne Chapel A.M.E., 3625 Marion Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. Interment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. A reception will be held following the interment at Payne Chapel A.M.E.
