Daniel Barker
Col. (retired) Daniel J. Barker, 66, born on February 13, 1946 in Rockford, IL was born again into eternal life on November 7, 2012.
Dan served 27 years in the United States Air Force as a Civil Engineer, completing his career as the Director of Readiness, AFCESA at Tyndall Air Force Base. At the time of his death, he was Vice President of Global Operations and Logistics for IAP Worldwide Services.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, James and Grace Barker; and his son, Sean. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathy; children Ryan (Claire) of Prattville, AL, Shannon (Adrian) of Panama City; Kelly (Farrar) of Santa Rosa Beach, Megan (Chris) of Oklahoma City, OK and Patrick (Tiffany) of Panama City. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Bill (Ann) of Toronto; and his 21 grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 6-8 p.m., with Rosary at 7 p.m, at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Panama City, FL. A funeral mass will be held Monday, November 12, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Panama City, FL, with Father Pete Zalewski officiating. The family will receive friends after the mass in the Fellowship Hall.
A memorial service will take place at the United States Air Force Academy Chapel (Cadet Chapel) in Colorado Springs, CO on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery, with full military honors. A reception will follow at Jack Quinn’s Irish Pub in downtown Colorado Springs.
