David Allen Montmeny II passed away on May 4, 2019.  As he would say it: He lost a very intense battle against two grizzly bears. And that’s the story we are sticking to.

He was born in Holyoke, MA to David A. Montmeny and Bettejean (Steinbock) Montmeny.  In 1978 he joined the US Army and was stationed at Fort Carson, CO, where he met his wife, Bonnie (Earles) Montmeny of 38 years.

Hoss, as he was known by those closest to him, was always there to give his time or services to anyone who needed help.  During the summer he could be found somewhere with his fishing pole in the water and come October through December he would be in the woods hunting or mentoring to someone about hunting.  But, by far his favorite past time would be spending time with his four grandsons.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie (Earles) Montmeny; son, Joseph Montmeny; grandsons: Gavin Montmeny, Brodie Montmeny, Aidyn McCutchen, Austin McCutchen; mother, Bettejean Bennett; brother, Mark Montmeny; and sister, Bari Montmeny.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Ruth Steinbock; father, David Montmeny; and his daughter, Amber McCutchen.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 11th, at 11am at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard. A reception will follow at On The Border, 2190 Southgate Road.

The family suggests sending memorial contributions to The Wounded Warrior Project.
