Dave, age 86, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025.  He was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, for 28 years and was formerly a resident of Port Jervis, New York.  He was retired from the United States Postal Service and was a licensed electrician. In retirement Dave held many other jobs to keep himself busy and spent 14 years working for the grocery chain, King Soopers. 

Dave was born on January 13, 1939, to Clarence “Tubby” Wilcox and Gertrude (Lane) Wilcox in Port Jervis, New York.  On December 2, 1961, he married his wife, Bette (Knealing) Wilcox in Port Jervis, New York.  Dave spent the first 57 years of his life in Port Jervis, New York before relocating to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1996 to be closer to his children. 

Dave always kept busy working on projects around the house or tinkering with things in the garage.  He was a member of Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church and a life member of the Knights of Columbus. He attended Port Jervis High School and graduated in 1957. He even served 4 years in the United States Navy after high school and was stationed on a Destroyer the USS Beatty. Dave was very proud of his Navy service and loved telling stories about his time spent serving. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth “Bette” Wilcox; his children: Ed (Karen) Wilcox and Rob (Becky) Wilcox; his brother, James Wilcox; his grandchildren: Emily Wilcox, Katie Wilcox, Rachel (Wilcox) Miranda, Ashlyn Wilcox and Ryan Wilcox; and his great-grandchild, Ella Miranda; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gertrude Wilcox.

A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. A reception will be held following the service at the Colorado Springs Country Club, 3333 Templeton Gap Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907.

  1. I graduated with Dave from PJHS in 1957 & he was one of my closest & special friend! We had many a hearty laugh during our school days & I will always remember him, both in my prayers & my thoughts. One of those persons you consider lucky to meet as you pass thru life!
