David Mosher Ragan, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away September 6, 2024, following a brief illness. He was born October 12, 1931, in Walter Reed Army Medical Center (formerly named Walter Reed General Hospital), Washington, DC to Col. Perry C. Ragan and Lucile Mosher Ragan.

On June 26, 1958, David married Bonnie Lu Babcock of Colorado Springs. 63 years later, Bonnie preceded him in death, February 9, 2021.

David began his Military service by enlisting in the Army as an underage teen. His father intervened and David received an Honorable Discharge in 1947. Later he enlisted in the Navy as a Radioman First Class and served aboard the U.S.S. Destroyer Rowan. He served in the Navy Reserves until 1961.

In 1961 David began a career in Law Enforcement, which was his true calling. Advancing from a young Police Patrolman, his career spanned over 20 years with positions ranging from Detective, Probation Officer, Parole Officer and finally as a Criminal Investigator for the District Attorney’s Office.

One of his favorite hobbies was anything about airplanes and flying. Not only did he obtain his pilots license and owned his own plane but became General Manager of a private aviation group locally. He also had a commercial pilots license.

His other hobby was in keeping with his radio communications background. He operated a HAMM radio station in his basement reaching other operators all over the world. He had many friends who were HAMM operators both locally as well as in other countries. He was able to attend a few monthly meetings up until recently. David was a member of St. George’s Anglican Church and valued the words, advice as well as the friendship of Father Armstong, who is officiating this solemn time.

So hard to summarize who he was, but this I know David Ragan was an honorable man, a devout believer who loved God, his family, his friends and his country. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by Buddy Babcock (brother-in-law) and his wife, Sally; Doris Hays (sister-in-law); nieces: Stephanie Wahl, Laurie Eure, Kerri Hays-Catin, Desirae Bowlby, Autumn Nyquist McGuire; great-nieces: Heldi Gamer, Amy Lemnich, Kelli Marcus, Hannah Bowlby, Susan Hays, Veronica Hays; great-great-nieces: Shayla Gamer, Sophie Gamer, Avery Gamer, Joslyn Gamer, Ashley; nephews: Barry Babcock, Jim Hays, Dean Babcock, Russell Babcock; great-nephews: Johnathan Gamer, Jason Heulitt, Marc Marcus, Eric Bowlby, Kent Hays, James Hays, Sebastian Hays, Gabriel Hays, Augustin Hays, Xavier Hays; and great-great-nephews: Quintin Gamer, Grayson Lasema, Griffin Lasema, Jeremiah.
