Debra Newland, a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
Debra Jo Jardine was born on December 29, 1950, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Raymond and Elda (Burfeind) Jardine. She graduated from Wasson High School and received her bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. She married John Richard Newland on December 8, 1973, in Colorado Springs. She worked as a bookbinder for 8-10 years and did custom work on family Bibles and other important books.
She loved hiking, homeschooling her three children, and teaching a number of different Bible studies.
She is survived by her husband, John; their children: Peter Newland (Jessica), Lisa Egeler (Tim), Andrew Newland (Renee); three brothers: Raymond Jardine, David Jardine, and Ronald Jardine; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Glen Eyrie Castle in the Great Hall. A reception will follow, also at Glen Eyrie Castle. Private inurnment will be at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
