Delbert B. Wood
Master Sergeant Delbert B. Wood, United States Air Force (Ret.), age 76, a resident of the Colorado Springs area since 1978, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013 at a local hospital. He had retired after 26 years of service in the United States Air Force and 15 years in the United States Civil Service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Delbert Barney Wood was born on March 10, 1936 in Otego, New York to the late Barney and Eleanor (Chamberlin) Wood. He was a 1955 graduate of Otego High School. He entered the United States Air Force and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He was for many years a financial and budget analyst and was also a budget analyst at Peterson Air Force Base. He married Eden Duque Agbayani on January 27, 1959 in Oneonta, New York.
He was a member of the Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, the Fil-Am Community of Southern Colorado, and the United States Volleyball Association. He was a lifelong athlete and sports enthusiast who played volleyball in the Air Force and later in the Senior Olympics. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Eden of Colorado Springs; his two daughters: Debi (husband, Don) Horn of Linn Valley, Kansas; and Robin (husband, Manuel) Monroe of Killeen, Texas; and his son: Don (wife, Cheryl) Wood of Commerce City, Colorado. He is also survived by his sister: Doris Hart of Clay, New York; nine wonderful grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2650 Parish View Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80919. Military Honors and committal services will follow at Mount St Francis Cemetery Columbarium. A reception will then follow at the Parish Hall at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
