Deloris J. Cassel, age 79, a resident of Colorado Springs since 2005 and formerly of Ogallala, Nebraska, went home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2014 at the Cheyenne Mountain Care Center in Colorado Springs. She was the former owner of Grampy’s Pancake House on the I-80 Interchange in Ogallala from 1970 until 1985. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.

Deloris June Brown was born on June 21, 1934 in Lewellyn, Nebraska to the late Frank and Stella (Swindle) Brown. She was a 1952 graduate of Ogallala High School and married Marrie Tom Ward in 1954. She later married Paul L. Cassel on December 26, 1966 in Ogallala. Paul passed away in 2002.

Deloris loved going to church and enjoyed making crafts with Paul. She will best be remembered for her positive spirit.

She is survived by her three children: Deb (and Brad) Rumsey of Colorado Springs, Thomas (and Deloris) Ward of Brady, Nebraska, and Sue (and Steve) Teese of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Stan (and Leah) Brown of Eaton, Colorado; and her sister, Jesse Tickner of Billings, Montana. She has sixteen wonderful grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and seven brothers and sisters.

Private family memorial services were held in Colorado Springs on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at her daughter’s home. Cremation is planned and memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
